The guild lines for this design project were simply to design a sneaker using breathable flyknit material and a foam sole. With these broad requirements, I sketched several ideas before landing on a design inspired by the ostentatious Rococo fashion of the 1700s. The fabric was dyed by hand, to which the lining and patterned panels were sewn. All foam details were hand sculpted and painted to emulate metal and wood. Finally, the whole was constructed on a last to take the form of a shoe.
